Office Services
- Exercise control over all the City government's departments, officers and employees
- Supervise and ensure efficient administration of the City's general affairs
- Meet weekly with the Cabinet to strategize, troubleshoot and plan
- Meet daily with City staff concerning past, current and future operations
- Listen to and address residents' complaints
- Tap into what the citizens need and want
- Develop ideas for improving quality of life in Fallon
- Devise ideas for continuing to improve the City's infrastructure
- Envision the City's future
- Brainstorm creative ways to fund and effect improvements
- Appoint, hire and remove city officers and employees
- Recommend to the City Council adoption of legislation
- Provide the City Council with an annual budget
- Regularly inform the City Council of the city's financial condition and needs
- Appraise the City Council of any and all new issues
- Enforce all laws and acts of the City Council, as required
- Delegate tasks to department heads
- Preside over the City Council when in session, preserve order and enforce the meeting rules
- Approve in writing any ordinance and any resolution or contract requiring payment
- Ensure the policies and plans set by the City Council are carried out
- Vote during City Council meetings only to break a tie
- Veto legislation when necessary
- Cause legal proceedings to be initiated or defended in the city's interests, when necessary
- Perform emergency duties required for the city's general health, welfare and safety
- Maintain and promote a can-do attitude
- Execute other tasks as required by ordinance or the City Council
