· The Police Department does not accept resumes in lieu of an original application; however you may submit a resume along with a completed application.
Selection Procedure:
After the deadline all material submitted by the applicants will be reviewed. Based on the information provided, the most highly qualified candidates will be invited for further examination. Our testing process will consist of the following:
· Written Test
· Physical Agility Examination
· Oral Board Interview
· Psychological Exam (for finalist)
· Polygraph (for finalist)
Applicants are responsible for any personal expenses incurred during the selection and hiring process.
If the candidate is selected as one of the top candidates he/she will be given a personal background package to be completed within two (2) weeks for preparing for the background investigator.
Medical Requirements:
A medical examination must be completed satisfactorily after and offer of employment and before a starting date to ensure that essential functions of a position can be performed.
Probationary Period:
Police Officers serve a probationary period for one year. An employee may be terminated without cause and recourse during the probationary period.
Employee Compensation and Benefits:
SALARY – The starting salary is generally the first rate shown on the job announcement.
The following benefits apply to full-time employees:
· VACATION – 12 days paid vacation annually, increasing with length of service.
· SICK LEAVE – 12 days per year, up to a total accumulation of 180 days.
· INSURANCE – Premiums paid by the City for medical, dental, and life insurance coverage.
· SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL – 6% for swing shifts and 8% for grave yard shifts.
· RETIREMENT – Full time employees are not under the Social Security System. Employees are covered by the Nevada Public Employees Retirement System. City pays employees cost. Membership is mandatory
· DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLANS – Available for interested employees.
· UNIFORM ALLOWANCE: Annual allowance of $1,250 in July after employed for 1 year
· DUTY WEAPON: Department issued weapon and leather
· BALLISTIC VEST: Department issued
The City of Fallon, Nevada is accepting applications to hire a Police Officer.
Lateral Officers or candidates with a Nevada POST Category I Certificate.
APPLICANTS MUST:
· Be at least 21 years of age.
· Be a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien.
· Possess or be able to obtain a valid Nevada Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
· Not have been convicted of a felony in the State of Nevada or of an act in any other state or federal jurisdiction which would have been a felony if committed in Nevada.
· Reside within 7 miles of City Hall at appointment.
· Have obtained education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12) grade. College level coursework in criminal justice is highly desirable.
· Have uncorrected vision of at least 20/100 in each eye corrected to 20/30; normal color vision and hearing.
