Municipal Court Functions

  • Adjudicate cases of misdemeanors, petty offenses and civil violations, such as of traffic and municipal ordinances
  • Set fines not otherwise established by City ordinance
  • Coordinate the administrative operations of the court
  • Provide official records of all case transactions, fines, fees, court costs and restitutions
  • Deposit fines and fees with the City Treasurer
  • Routinely render a detailed statement of imposed, collected and uncollected fines and fees
  • Oversee the retention requirements for Municipal Court records
  • Officiate wedding ceremonies upon request
  • Inform the City Clerk of all permanent personnel changes
  • Notify the Mayor of any proposed changes in employee job duties or responsibilities
