Guide to City Council Meetings

City Council and Special meetings, held in Council Chambers at City Hall, are open to the public.

Meeting agendas are available on the City’s Web site. They also are posted on the Announcements Board in City Hall at the Churchill County Library (553 S. Maine Street), Churchill County Law Enforcement Building and Churchill County Administration Building.

Ample meeting parking is available in the lot across from City Hall and on neighboring streets. No dress code is required for meeting attendance.

Meetings typically open with a call to order, pledge of allegiance recitation, verification of required agenda posting, then approval of previous minutes and new warrants. The floor then opens for general public comments. Action can’t be taken on issues raised during this period.

Next, new business is addressed, followed by a second public comments session, then presentation of City Council and City staff reports. When necessary, an executive session (closed to the public), ensues. Afterwards, the Mayor adjourns the meeting.
