Councilman John E. Tewell

John's love of people keeps him busy with volunteerism. He now is in his 15th year as a Fallon City Council member, is the Mayor Pro Tem, is active in the United Methodist Church and frequently checks in at the office of his residential community where he once was the manager for two years. He traces his public involvement back to the Parents and Teachers Association when his three children were youngsters (married nearly 60 years, he now has three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren!).

Although John majored in Bible at Bethany College in West Virginia, he went on to work for 31 years as a production manager for the Elko Daily Free Press. While in Elko, he served for eight years as a City Council member, six of which he was the Police/Fire Commissioner. Subsequently, he worked for a decade as an area manager for Country Companies, which brought him to Fallon in 1990. After that he drove a school bus for Churchill County for 10 years.

Once his final Fallon City Council term expires, John will have to find something new to do, which shouldn't be a problem, he says, as he's already had requests for his time.
