Councilwoman Rachel Dahl
Rachel Dahl has a diverse knowledge of community issues. After working for the Churchill Economic Development Authority, she joined the Lahontan Valley Environmental Alliance. While there, she lobbied before the Nevada Legislature and U.S. Congress on behalf of agricultural and natural resource preservation, two issues of vital importance to Churchill County residents.
Later Rachel accepted Senator John Ensign's invitation to join his campaign team. After Ensign was elected, Rachel stayed on as rural coordinator before later directing the Senator's Carson City office. She and her staff worked on matters that concerned rural Nevadans statewide.
Upon returning to Fallon to raise her children, Rachel was a Fallon Star Press newspaper reporter and humor columnist. She currently teaches high school English at the same high school from which she graduated over 20 years ago. In 2007 she was the assistant coach for the girls' varsity basketball team; and in 2008 she was the assistant debate and forensics coach.
Rachel attended Churchill County High School and Western Nevada Community College before earning a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Nevada. She also holds a secondary teaching license and is qualified to teach Language Arts in grades 7–12. Rachel has completed coursework and is now writing the thesis required to earn a Masters of Arts in Political Science. She is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honor Society.
