Fallon Centennial Coin
The City of Fallon Centennial Coin is a special, limited edition coin created exlusively for Fallon's 100th birthday, 1908-2008.
The coins were minted on historic Press No. 1 at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City, Nevada, on Friday, April 25th, 2008, in conjunction with National Coin Week.
On February 11, 1870, Press No. 1 struck its first coin bearing the soon-to-be-famous "CC" (Carson City) mintmark. Housed in the original mint building, the press is a favorite attraction at the Nevada State Museum and is thought to be one of the last operating presses from the 1860-1880 period.
The coin's front features an attractive Centennial design containing Fallon's slogan, "The Oasis of Nevada," a term depicting Lanhontan Valley's century old agrarian heritage, and its vast, green fields that greet visitors as they enter the Valley from all four directions. The front also features the "CC" mintmark and ".000 fine silver." The reverse side shows the Nevada State Seal.
Generations to come will appreciate the quality of the coin and the beauty and uniqueness of the design.
