      World Champion Team Roper Jade Corkill

      The City of Fallon honored world champion team roper Jade Corkill by naming Dec. 19, 2013 as Jade Corkill Day. Corkill is recognized as one of the world's best team ropers, winning the World Team Roping Title in 2012 and 2013. He is the first native Nevadan to win two consecutive Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Association world titles, and one of only four native Nevadans to win world titles in the rodeo association's 77-year history.     • Dairy Farmers of America
      Plant Set to Open

      After two years of construction and $85 million of investment, the Dairy Farmers of America plant in Fallon will open this summer, and begin producing approximately 250,000 lbs. of dried dairy ingredients per day. ( more >)

      Irrigo, a cloud-based irrigation control system being developed in Fallon, recently won UNR’s Sontag Entrepreneurship business competition and was awarded $50,000. ( more >)

      New City Council Woman

      Fallon Mayor Ken Tedford and the Fallon City Council selected Kelly Frost to fill the vacant council seat in Ward 1 at the council's regular meeting on March 18. ( more >)

      "Light the Lariat"

      The inaugural event of the 150th Anniversary celebration was the "Light the Lariat," the illumination of the historic Lariat Motel sign that has been restored by the Churchill Arts Council. The Oct. 31 ceremony at Oats Park Art Center celebrated the renowned sign's reinstallation at the Oats Park Art Center, where it will be lit whenever an event is taking place at the center.
